Sounds of Sappho: LGBTQ+ Open Mic Night

  • Omaha ForUs LGBTQ+ Center 3337 North 107th Street Omaha, NE, 68134 United States (map)

Omaha For Us presents Sounds of Sappho: A Sapphic Open Mic Night. On March 7th from 5:30-7pm, delight in the creative spirit of other LGBT+ individuals in this open mic night themed around all things Sapphic. This event is open to all sapphic or not; however, staying on theme is much encouraged! If you just want to perform, that's cool too!

"Sapphic" is a term which refers broadly to women who are attracted to other women whether they identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, masc, femme, or any diverse identity falling within the spectrum of same-sex attractions. This term comes from the Ancient Greek poet Sappho.

"I cannot weave - slender Aphrodite has overcome me with longing for a girl." -Sappho, 500B.C., inventing the phrase 'Too gay to function.'
